I took Tina's workshop in San Jose back in 2007 and did the CPNE in Racine, Wisconsin, a few days later. That first night in Racine, I could look around the room and see that about half of the folks there were varying degrees of unready. I was still nervous but I knew for a fact that I was well prepared. I sailed through it, passing the lab and each patient scenario the first time.

The bottom line is that the CPNE is very possible and doesn't have to be terrifying. For me, Tina took enough of the angst out of the CPNE to make it possible. If you prepare properly, it's just a test. The stress is the same as any other test as long as you've spent the time and put in the work to make sure you're ready. Here's the deal. The Excelsior examiners have a limited time to assess your skills and judgment, and a daunting responsibility to make sure that you are competent at the level of an ADN new grad. They don't want to fail you, but they are not about to hand a degree to someone who cannot function at the level of a new registered nurse.

For me, Tina's workshop made the CPNE possible. She did an excellent job at explaining what the examiners wanted and how to present it to them in an organized and timely way. Care planning was my nightmare. Tina took us through care plans, simplified the process, and I practiced care plans until I wanted to throw up. The mnemonics and grid were the easiest part for me because it was memorization. I spent a couple of weeks writing them over and over again before the workshop so I wouldn't waste time memorizing when I should be learning. When it came to the lab skills, I practiced them until I could just about do them in my sleep. I took the approach that my hands needed to be able to do the skill even if my brain turned to mush during the test. It worked. The point is, clean out your ears, LISTEN, and do what Tina tells you to focus on. Spend the time. Do the work. Then do some more. Don't let your fears get in your way and don't get cocky. You can do this. Finally, spend time running through full patient care scenarios with an actual person. It's different when you have a live human being sitting there staring at you. You will need to practice that.

Life after Excelsior: I had been an LVN/LPN for 13 years. I passed the boards and received my RN license in NV in 2007. At first I remained with my home health job. It took a few months but I was able to get into one of the hospitals here in Las Vegas. I trained for IMC and worked in the float pool for the first two years, after which I took the hospital's ICU course and upgraded to critical care. As of this writing I've been an ER nurse for the past four years. Having an Excelsior ADN instead of a traditional program was never an issue and certainly did not slow me down.

Upgrading from LPN to RN is a life changing experience. I don't know that I could have taken the time out to finish the ADN in a traditional program. I am grateful to Tina for making it possible. Thank you, Tina!

I would like to take a few minutes of your time to speak on behalf of the program offered by Tina at CHE. Back in 2000, I embarked on a journey to become a nurse. I signed up for classes at Excelsior College and with some trepidation I began a long road to become a nurse. When I completed my courses I was preparing to take the CPNE. I had heard of CHE and Tina’s workshop from various yahoo groups and from other sites on the internet. Not having any medical background other than being a paramedic, I thought the task of passing the CPNE was insurmountable. I knew I had a job waiting for me locally in the emergency department once I became a registered nurse, now the only obstacle that stood in my way was the CPNE.

At the time the CPNE was expensive, as were several other prep classes being offered by various groups including Excelsior College. However I knew I need to pass the first time, so I signed up to take Tina’s workshop. I flew from the east coast all the way to San Diego and lived in a hotel room for a week, attending the workshop and studying.

I can say with conviction that without Tina’s workshop I would not have passed the CPNE. She gave me the skills, and techniques needed to pass. Unofficially I had heard at the time that Excelsior College Nursing examiners could tell who attended Tina’s workshop and who did not, because we were so well prepared. Of the four of us who tested only three of us passed. That means 75% of us made it with one needing to retest the skill stations (not me ). If Tina is correct that the pass rate is now at 50%, then her workshop is a must!!!

In the nearly 9 years since passing my boards, I have continued to work as a paramedic and a nurse in a community hospital that sees over 73,000 patients a year with the hospital being an entry point for all stroke patients and as a point of entry for all STEMI’s. I have served as a staff nurse, team leader, and a manager in the department. Currently I have gone back per diem as a staff nurse to spend more time at home.

Tina’s workshop is worth the time and money spent to help prepare you to take and pass your CPNE. I have continued to promote her workshop since graduating to any fellow paramedic that has decided to follow in my footsteps. I promote Tina’s workshop because I believed and still believe it is the best workshop out there. I express this thought freely and free of any compensation from CHE or any other entity.

If you have any questions please feel free to email me. Good luck in your pursuit and your future endeavors.

Taking the CPNE Workshop was a great investment, it was money and time well spent. I believe I attended in 2009, today I am an RN, BSN, working on my MSN. Taking the workshop gave me a great confidence boost. Tina and her team will go out of their way to ensure you feel the same by the time the workshop ends. You won't regret it. Good Luck!!

What can I say that doesn't sound like I am hyping your CPNE Prep classes too much? The fact is that I AM HYPING your CPNE Prep classes as the best in the business. I have attended other preparation classes and they did not even compare with yours. The supplies and equipment in the lab were first rate and we had much more then any other prep class that I have attended. The course work was intense, and the amount of time that you devoted to each of us as an individual was fantastic. In my case, I had waited so long for a test date that my confidence was lacking. You, Tina gave me a "can do" attitude and with the wonderful class instruction, I had the skills I needed to pass the CPNE on May 27,28, and 29. What I can say is, that if I were in this position again, I would recommend that students do not waste their money on any other preparation class. You offer small classes, intense instruction, individualized assistance, and teach what one needs to know in order to be successful. Not only do you offer this fantastic class, but you offer yourself and provide us with the energies needed to combat our self- doubts and to believe in our abilities to perform. You have been there yourself and realize how stressful this CPNE really is.Tina, you can relate and are very empathetic, and you give of yourself.

For the readers that do read this site and my posting, I have nothing to gain by suggesting that you attend CHEducation'ie: Tina's preparation classes. I have no hidden agenda and only want to see others be successful because I know how very, very devastating failure can be. In summation, if you want to succeed at this enroll with Tina. God Bless!

Tina's CPNE workshop is the best. I took her workshop in 2010 and went for the CPNE in Milwaukee, WI a few months later and I remember that on that day, although I was so nervous, everything Tina taught in her workshop was on the exam except for the arrangements which was to be expected.

I was a freshly divorced LPN that was in desperate need of career advancement. I knew that Excelsior College was my one shot at my career aspirations. I also had heard the CPNE was a nightmare. After comparing different CPNE preparations I saw different testimonials and all were positive. When I found out Tina was an Excelsior College graduate, I knew she had the first hand knowledge to help me reach my goals. Tina’s grids and mnemonics were crucial to passing the CPNE the first time! I was already a train wreck of emotions from a recent divorce, but Tina gave me the confidence I needed. I learned exactly what CPNE was, what to expect, how to fill out my forms, how to pass my care plan, and how to pass the skills check. I learned everything without knowing anything in the beginning about the CPNE from her preparation. I was confident in my nursing skills but that is not enough the pass the CPNE you have to know the Excelsior College way. I will say Tina did not leave me after the preparation ended. I was given her cell phone number and was able to speak with her during my CPNE, which was helpful. Tina is always family for me and I am forever grateful. I am a recent two-times graduate of Excelsior College with a Master’s of Science in Nursing specializing in Clinical Systems Management.

I went to Tina's workshop back in 2007 and appreciated all her and her husband did for us. She broke the CPNE down into a pragmatic, logical and WORKABLE format. She is witty and has the gift of delivering such valuable information in an easy going manner. She does not by ANY means let you think the CPNE is easy but rather gives you the tools to pass this skill test process. Her course was invaluable to me and gave me the confidence to go take one of the craziest tests I've ever taken and pass first try. She was worth every penny and moment spent in her class. PLUS, she's just a cool person! Thank you, Tina -and Sebastian, for your wonderful workshop.

I finished the degree, AND passed the NY State boards, so I am now a LICENSED R.N. -- I didn't believe it possible! Thanks to you both, I could never have done it, neither in knowledge nor in confidence, without all that you taught me. I can't thank you two enough for the excellent teaching (it is really your calling Tina!!!) and for all of the supportive actions and positive talk. What a difference it all made in my attitude toward nursing as a profession for me. I will continue practicing and studying from your binder and from all my excellent notes -- a whole NB full!!! This course is the BEST it could be, and a real life-saver. Thank you thank you.

After failing the CPNE in July 2010, I asked the two successful guys what the secret was to passing this test. They both enthusiastically recommended Tina's workshop. As soon as I got home, I signed up for the workshop. Best money I ever spent. Everything she teaches is totally relevant; everything that will, or could come up in the CPNE is covered. Tina's kind, caring enthusiasm gives you a boost of confidence. She is a truly gifted nurse and teacher! I retook the CPNE in March 2011 and passed easily. Now it's my turn to recommend Tina's workshop, and I do!

I can NOT begin to describe or explain how valuable Tina's workshop is and her excellent training style, practical information and attention to detail.
I was a physical therapy assistant (licensed) and had some medical experience in EMS, as a cardiopulmonary tech years before. So I had a LOT of studying and practicing to do. I had taken another CPNE practice course and it was good, but nothing compared to Tina's. Her background in medicine and academics provided a unending front of information that proved accurate, useful and had future application besides passing the CPNE at first try. She supported us through the test, made check up calls. IS available prior as well to answer questions. Her practical labs are spot on and her training is above and beyond. She gave us tips that helped us survive little disasters like when you drop the patient information and test list on the bathroom floor. Or they slyly unlock the wheelchair to see if you check and lock.. Her training skills advanced me at work as well. I became a preceptor for 3 colleges and a trainer for the hospital. When I went to home health and got picked by the state inspectors to be observed my first thought REALLY was......"How would Tina handle this?" My patient was a home infusion patient with labs, a messy house and I had to do the PICC dressing change, get their labs and the records had to be in order. So I remembered-- Do what you do and do it 1000 times more. Tina's method kicked in and I was the only employee with a perfect score... and I had the hardest patient. ALL thanks to Tina's training and test taking education... She's awesome, brilliant and full of energy. If i lived near there I would retake her classes now and then for a refresher... and help out as well. Well worth the effort, time and money....because it works long after the CPNE is over..

Tina's workshop was amazing . I attended her cpne workshop in June of 2011. Tina , Sebastian we're the best teachers I could ask for. The workshop was so educational , I got so much practice there . Before finding this workshop I feel like I knew nothing . Their workshop taught me everything I know today . Basically they chew the information and you just have to do the learning yourself. Tina and Sebastian thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to get to know you and learn from you . I am an Rn since 2012. Please please consider this workshop !!! The best cpne workshop!!!!

For those who are taking the CPNE, I highly recommend that you attend Tina's Workshop. I was an LVN for 12 years before I took my CPNE and I thought I was good enough to take the test. I was very wrong! Tina will guide you on how to pass CPNE for the first time. Frankly speaking, I never slept the whole time I was in Lubbock, Texas even if I was confident enough to take the test. Just follow the details that Tina will show you in the class and you will surely pass the Test!!!!!! Practice, practice, practice....... Only 3 of us out of twelve examinees that passed the test. I drunk 2 bottles of wine after the test and asked the Front Desk Clerk o wake me up in the morning so I won't miss my flight back home hahaha. Good luck!

Excelsior's CPNE is designed to test your limits and bring out your true character. It is rigorously challenging and you must study and train yourself for it like a championship match. Investing yourself in a CPNE workshop will help you to successfully complete your CPNE.
Tina Johl is a highly experienced RN who performed well on the CPNE and has helped many, many others to do the same.
She is a very gifted instructor, caring, funny and well prepared. Don't try and go it alone. With Tina's guidance , you will be successful. I know I could not have passed the Exam without the tools, techniques, information and stories she shared with us. You can do it too! Everything she offers is well worth the time and money. Good luck!
